The Internet is a remarkable medium. Don’t you think?
It allows you and me to reach out to other people virtually anywhere in the world.
It enables us to publish our thoughts instantly, sell our products to a global market, or just chat about the latest Paris Hilton incident.
And yet, because everyone has the ability to do that, what tends to happen is that the overall noise gets louder - and in order for others to hear us, we have to do one of two things: either we speak louder, or we get better at influencing others.
Speaking louder is easy when you have money. If you have $1 billion dollars, you can buy a $1 billion dollar voice.
Fortunately, you don’t need $1 billion dollars for the second option. Everyone can learn to get better at influencing others.
For instance, take Cialdini’s Weapons of Influence - you may have already heard of them, they are: reciprocation, social proof, authority, commitment and consistency, scarcity, and liking.
If you are selling to others, or using the Internet to influence others, then you need to understand not only what those principles of influence are, but also how and when to use them in this unique communications medium.
In other words, you want to create “Internet Influence Magic” - am I right?
And that, my friends, is the purpose of this blog - to show you how you can use these principles of influence to succeed online.
Make no mistake, you need to have a razor-sharp understanding of these principles - because if you don’t, your competitors will.
That’s why you need to subscribe to this blog right now, because we’re about to go on a journey of discovery together, and I’d like you to come along for the ride.
It’s going to be fun!
The first stop on our journey will be: Reciprocation.
By the way, on a completely unrelated note, I welcome comments on this blog. If you comment on my blog (even if it’s just to say Hello!) then I will comment on yours.

2Hi Franck
Thanks for commenting! Scientific Advertising is a classic, I’m sure you’ll get some great stuff out of it.
I’m confident what you’ll learn from this site will also boost your copywriting skills too.

3I imagine reciprocation is huge in online efforts, linking and everything, I’m just getting started so your goal of 1000 rss feeds i like, just curious what kind of strategies you are looking to incorporate to get there?

4Hi Shawn
Thanks for posting, and welcome! Yes, reciprocation is a huge part, especially for blogs and for linking.
To get 1,000 feeds? That’s a great question. Here’s some things I have in mind, although if you or others have any suggestions I’d love to hear them…
(1) I’m doing a lot of research at the moment for this topic of “Influence”, and I come across a lot of blogs. I always make a habit of adding relevant comments to other people’s blogs (i.e. helpful, and hopefully adding value to the discussion), and then a little link to my site at the end of the post, if the site owner allows it.
I also find that adding a P.S. underneath the link seems to help, i.e.
P.S: If you have a moment, pop over to my blog and post a comment or just say hello, because I’d really appreciate it!
(2) I’m hoping to write some great posts and then submit them to the social bookmarking sites listed at the bottom of each post.
I have a couple of other ideas, but I’ll have to keep them under wraps for now. If you come back to this site regularly (or better yet, subscribe to my RSS feed!), then I’ll talk about how I’m doing with that 1,000 target.
Nice site, by the way

6Paul, you have my attention. I found you on Authority Blogger Forum. I am a new blogger as of June 1, 2007. Will subscribe to keep up with your ideas and progress toward your goal of 1000 subscribers in 30 days. Thanks for the information

7Hi Paul. Like Patricia, I discovered you via Authority Blogger Forum. I like your articles. By the way, you don’t need to promise readers that you’ll comment back on their blogs. I don’t think your target audience is after that.

8Hi Simonne
Good point. I guess it’s one of those things you say when your blog is new and you’d like comments
I did it mainly to kickstart the commenting process - to get the ball rolling. But I understand what you’re saying. Glad you like the articles, by the way.
